Scott Meech

Executive Director

Scott Meech serves as the Executive Director of the Illinois Digital Educators Alliance (IDEA), bringing more than 30 years of experience as an educator, technology leader, school administrator, educational consultant, and more than a decade on Apple’s Education team. Throughout his career, he has been most passionate about helping educators grow professionally while building communities where collaboration, innovation, and meaningful relationships thrive.

Long before becoming Executive Director, IDEA had been an important part of Scott’s professional journey. Over the years, he has served as a volunteer, presenter, conference leader, vendor, and member, building lasting relationships with educators across Illinois while gaining a deep appreciation for the community, collaboration, and mission that define IDEA. 

As Executive Director, Scott is committed to strengthening IDEA’s community, expanding high-quality professional learning opportunities, enhancing IDEAcon, and ensuring IDEA remains the premier place where educators come together to connect, grow, share, and inspire. He believes the best ideas emerge when educators learn with one another, challenge one another, and work together to shape the future of teaching and learning.

Heather Woomer

Chief Operating Officer

Heather joined the IDEA team in June 2021 as the Event Coordinator and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2025. With a background in hospitality and business administration, she brings a unique perspective to the team.

When she is not working, Heather enjoys reading, being creative in the kitchen and spending time with her husband and their dog, Artemis.

David Chan

Conference Coordinator

David Chan is the Conference Coordinator for IDEAcon. He started his IDEA (formerly ICE) journey as an attendee and presenter at the NICE miniCon, working his way onto the Conference Committee as a Workshops co-chair, Conference Co-Chair, and he's been the Coordinator since 2019.

When he's not thinking about conference logistics, keynote speakers, and committee meetings, he serves as the Director of Instructional Technology at Evanston Township High School (ETHS). David taught math and science for 10 years and was the Technology Integration Specialist for 5 years at ETHS. David is an online instructor with Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development, an adjunct instructor with National-Louis University, and a Google for Education Certified Innovator and Trainer.
