Spark an IDEA

You can Spark an IDEA in your colleagues. 


Your idea does not need to be groundbreaking or perfectly polished. Often, the most useful ideas are practical, adaptable, and shared by someone doing the work. We are interested in traditional ideas as well as digital ideas, or as a friend of ours says, "Tradigital". 


Share one IDEA. Spark someone’s next IDEA.


How?  Share one practical idea from your experience—no polished presentation required.

  1. Open the current SPARK slide Template.
  2. Make a copy and choose one layout.
  3. Complete one slide with some IDEA and maybe include:
  • What do you do?
  • What does it help you understand or establish?
  • What changes because of it?
  • What could another educator adapt?
  • Share traditional and or digital ideas.
  1. Add your name, role, and school or organization.
  2. Share your slide with smeech@ideaillinois.org.


Keep it simple but have fun sharing your way.


  • Add an image only if you have permission to share it.
  • No pictures of students.
  • Do not include identifiable student information.
  • Ground your idea in your experience—not a universal “best practice.”
  • You only need one idea but format it your way.
  • Please be mindful of colors and readable fonts.

August | Starting the School Year Right

The beginning of the school year is about classroom procedures and cultural norms and expectations. It is our first opportunity to build trust, understand our students, and create the conditions for meaningful learning.


When students feel known, they are more likely to participate, take risks, collaborate, ask for help, and contribute to the learning community. What we learn about them can also help us make better decisions about classroom routines, group interaction, accessibility, attention, and purposeful technology use.
