Volunteer Opportunities

Find Your Place in the IDEA Community

IDEA is a community-powered, volunteer-led organization, and there are many ways to contribute. We are looking for educators, partners, and community members who want to help others connect, grow, share, and inspire.

Our four volunteer roles extend across every part of IDEA—from Regional Communities and Spotlight Communities to our social media channels, blog, newsletter, and podcast. Volunteers can also support mini-cons, workshops, meetups, social events, and other professional-learning experiences throughout the year.

These roles are not rigid positions. They are flexible ways to identify how your interests, strengths, and available time can support the IDEA community. You may see yourself in one role or discover that you contribute in several ways.

Support a Region or a New Spotlight Community

We need your voice. Your IDEAs. Your help!

Give IDEA a manageable amount of your talent, and IDEA will help you build relationships, credibility, skills, visibility, and a body of work you can carry throughout your career.

Connectors

Build relationships and strengthen community. Welcome members, lead Regional Chapters or Spotlight Communities, support networking, encourage member engagement, and organize community events.

Catalysts

Create learning experiences that help educators grow. Present workshops, facilitate webinars, teach at IDEAcon, lead professional learning, host discussions, and develop new learning opportunities.

Luminaries

Amplify the best ideas, resources, and voices across our community through our socials. Help us create social media content, curate resources, publish our newsletters, produce podcast episodes, interview educators, highlight member work, and share innovative practices.

Sparks

Inspire educators to lead, innovate, and imagine what is possible. Mentor others, celebrate accomplishments, recognize excellence, encourage innovation, recruit future leaders, and share stories of impact.

Gift of Giving Back - Volunteering

IDEA Community Volunteer

We volunteer to make a difference for others, but often discover that the experience changes us, too. By sharing our time and talents, we build relationships, develop new skills, find renewed purpose, and become more deeply connected to our community. Sometimes, we receive even more than we give.

Volunteering is great for your health!
